[stag_intro]Getting into Charleston[/stag_intro]
Charleston is a small town in coastal South Carolina. Getting in can be a little tricky but there are lots of options:
From the United Kingdom;
- Charleston (CHS) airport is served by many major US airlines. You may also want to search for ideas looking at other close alternatives such as Hilton Head Island (HHI), Columbia South Carolina (CAE) and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (MYR).
- If you’re up for a bit of a drive, there are direct flights from London to Atlanta (ATL) on British Airways and Virgin Atlantic. Atlanta is a 4-hour drive to Charleston on mostly low-stress highways.
- Similarly, there are direct flights on American Airlines (possibly also redeemable using BA Avios as they’re a OneWorld partner) to Charlotte, a 3-hour drive to Charleston that’s a mix of highway and smaller local roads.
- There are direct flights on American Airlines to Raleigh, which is about 3.5-4 hours drive to Charleston.
- You may want to consider a stopover in Miami on your way in or out, as there are direct flights from Miami to Charleston on American Airlines.
- If you’re considering a stopover, it may be less expensive to book roundtrips to New York City, then book a separate roundtrip on JetBlue from NYC to Charleston. Roundtrips from NYC-CHS on JetBlue can be found for around $250, inclusive. You could also consider the same via Washington DC or Boston with JetBlue.
From the US:
- As with the above, consider Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Savannah or Columbia, SC as alternative airports.
- JetBlue is also a nice choice from DC, Boston or NYC directly to Charleston.

We are sorting hotels shortly. Please check back soon for block ideas. The bride and groom will be staying at the Planters Inn in downtown Charleston after the wedding.
We recommend guests look at Downtown Charleston as most everything will happen there and we will sort transportation to the wedding starting from there. For lower cost options, North Charleston or Charleston Airport are a bit more reasonable and not more than $15 or so in a taxi or Uber to downtown.

While rental cars are never a bad idea, you may want to consider Uber which is now operating in Charleston.
